Post your resolutions somewhere visible. Daily reminders will keep you focused. I like sticking post-its on my computer.

A friend of mine prefers scattering them around at relevant spots such as a diet reminder posted on the frig and a “walk more” sign on the door going to the garage where her car is parked so that she’ll think twice about being lazy and driving to the corner store when she could walk instead.

While some spend January 1st nursing hangovers or watching a bowl game, I can be found working up my list of New Year’s resolutions. Tossing out the old calendar and turning the pages of a new one that’s empty and clean makes me feel as though I can start fresh as well.

Let’s face it, changing behaviors and habits can be difficult. As well as not being too hard on myself, I’ve found the following can keep me on my newly paved paths:

I aim for ten resolutions and number one is generally “forgive myself for the resolutions I didn’t keep in the past and the ones I may not keep in the future.”
